Interests

Family, travel, boating, gardening, reading, cooking and entertaining.

Family

I was married in 1962 to George Doherty "Digger" who was in the class of 1956 and grew up in the funeral home around the corner from me. We have 3 children, all married and 4 grandchildren. George III (we call him King), he is 38 and lives in Dover and is a partner in Cochran and Havlin Insurance in Wellesley. Suzanne Parks (33) lives in Medfield and teaches 3rd grade in Walpole. Kelly Laferiere (29) lives in Fairfield, CT - and was recently named a VP for ESPN. They are happy, healthy fun kids - we are blessed!

Education

I left Wellesley schools after Junior High and graduated from Holy Cross Academy in Brookline in 1958. B.S. from Tufts University in 1963.

Work

I had a brief teaching career until my family arrived. In 1984 I decided I had to decide what I was going to do when I "grew up" and I went into Real Estate. I joined our local Century 21 office in Dedham and have been working in Residential Sales there ever since. I have loved the job, the people and the flexibility and plan to keep working as long as they will let me travel and play my own schedule.

Achievement

Raising my family and staying married for 40 years! I have done lots of volunteer work over the years in my own town and church. The League of Women Voters has been one of my principal interests and I served as our local president for several years. For 15 years I was involved in a prison volunteer project at MCI Norfolk in Norfolk, MA. It is a medium security facility and a whole different world. I learned a lot and probably got more out of it than I put in. A great experience.

Comments

Greetings to all! It is such fun to read about all of you and your accomplishments! My Mom says that one of the good things about "old age" is that you get to see how all of the stories turned out! So many of you have done such interesting things - it is fascinating. We lead a busy suburban life, with lots of friends and fun as well as hard work. George is in business with his younger brother Ed and they now have 4 funeral homes and no interest in retiring. We have a cottage at Green Harbor in Marshfield, MA which we all love. It is about 45 minutes from Dedham and a wonderful gathering place for all of the generations. George has a power boat that he keeps in Green Harbor and we take trips around the Massachusetts shore. In the winter we lease a condo in Nap, FL and go back and forth as often as we can. Ellie Doe is right up the street. I see lots of Wellesley friends all the time including Tootsie, Diane Cannon, Steffi Peck and Carol Castellanos. In fact we are all getting together next week for lunch at Steffi's. Who would have thought that after all these years we would still be such good friends? My Mom (89) still lives in the house on Atwood Street, so I am in Wellesley all the time. Love to all. I look forward to the reunion and seeing old friends.
