Sandy Shaw Protze and Herman Protze have been married for 43 years.
Herman is a self-employed engineering consultant at CIA (Construction Investigation & Analysis) for the last 12 years after flying around the world for too many years for the Construction Products Division of W.R. Grace as Director of Technical Services.
Herman did Sprague School starting in 1944/1945(?), (who else remembers our 5th grade teacher, Violet Montgomery Margaret Mason?), then on to the old Junior High before transferring to the new Junior High. On to GBHS where he tried the Class of 1957, 1958 and 1959 finally graduated from New Hampton Prep. School in New Hampshire, then Army days, and finally a BS in civil engineering at Northeastern University with some graduate work at MIT Sloan School.
Sandy is now at home after various career moves (Athletic Club, Gourmet Shop, Banking, Pre-School Aid), now being Mom by helping our 17 year old granddaughter apply to colleges as a senior at Dover-Sherborn High School. Christina came to us at age 2. There are six more grandchildren in Milton and Mashpee, Mass.
We are friendly with and see some WHS folks: Bill Whitney (57), Bill Gulliver (??), Paul Cochran (57), Pat Carey Cochran (58), Eleanor Doe Matheson (58), Debby French Cassis (58), John Noonan (??), Sabra Steele Flood (57). Indeed, it is a marvelously small world out there. Herman remembers Tom Curry and Peter McQaid from a crazy week or two of summer at the Finger Lakes (Phillip Benjamin?) as well as Band and Orchestra with Tom Curry (and Orchestra with Sabra Steele Flood) and lots of others my senior brain now cant remember. Ray Leach quickly discovered I was not the trumpet player as I (or, more likely than not, my parents) professed; thereafter, on occasion, I did an umpha on the Baritone Horn that Ray had for non-musical folks like me. The trumpet (actually a coronet) still adorns Sandys Christmas decorations around the house.
