Biography:
Family:	My husband, Bob, and I were married in 1965 and we immediately left for Germany as he was in the Army. We spent an incredible 2 years, stationed first in Bamberg with an artillary battalion, living with a German family in a small village; and later outside Stuttgart with 7th Army Headquarters where we lived in a small town. During that time we were able to travel quite a bit--from Paris to Oslo to Naples, from Athens to Cairo and Beirut. Arriving home, my husband joined his father's small accounting firm and continues his CPA and law practice to this day in Boston. We moved to Dover in 1968 and raised three children. Laura is married with two children and is a Professor of Education and Special Ed at Providence College, James (Jamie), a CPA with PWC, currently moving after 2 years in Hong Kong to Japan for at least two more. Our second son is John who is living locally and working for Outside the Classroom--a small internet firm dedicated to prevention of binge drinking in colleges and high school through an interactive internet program called alcoholedu.
Education:	I graduated from Bates College in 1962 with a degree in English. Through the years I have taken several graduate courses-according to my current interests--usually in teaching and education. I especially enjoyed courses in the B.U. TESOL Program.
Work:	My first job after college was teaching High School English and Public Speaking at Westwood, Ma. High School. Seeking the "city" life, I moved to Cambridge and worked for two years in the MIT Admissions Office coordinating their H.S. school-visiting problem and working with the alumnae office. Later, while in Germany, I did some substitute teaching in the dependent schools--a challenge to receive the call at 6:30 a.m. and be ready to go to kindergarten, teach German, or science and math--learning flexibility. Once home, I worked for the Research Dept. of Education Development Center in Newton. The following many years involved the usual suburban volunteer jobs--yes, Chair of the PTA, Treasurer of League of Woman Voters, Editor of Town Report and several church committees as well as many others. They were full and fun years. With an empty nest looming, I looked for another direction and have spent the past 20 years, tutoring and teaching ESL to international students. This fall I begin my 19th year teaching an English Conversation Class at MIT two mornings a week for spouses of international students. I am so fortunate to work with a wonderful group of fellow teachers and I am privileged to know my students. In addition, I am currently serving as a Vice-Chair of the Women's League at MIT which has me traveling to Cambridge much more often. My best job is the weekly after-school time with my two grandsons--a joy to have them so close and watch them grow.
Achievements:	The joy of family and friends, a 43 year marriage and still counting, pride in 3 dedicated children, enjoying 3 brothers and their families and the wonderful friendship of several people who sustain me each day. Not an achievement--but an opportunity: Bob and I have been able to travel to Asia twice in the past few years--to China and Japan, including a visit with former students and last year to Hong Kong, Cambodia and Thailand to visit with our son. I now have a fuller perspective of the lives of my Asian students--a great privilege.
Comments:	I am sure we are all wondering how the years went by so fast now that we are anticipating our 50th reunion!!! Thanks for all the planning!! We will miss those no longer with us, but listen to the stories of those who can gather. We have all certainly spread our wings after leaving Wellesley High School!!
